Unlike some of my recipes, I'm writing this one in a more traditional style. I think it's pretty damn good...my clients think it's pretty damn good...but, I'd love to hear what you think!!! You can find some good cinnamon rolls at Trader Joe’s...and the best ones I've found are at Ralphs market...but experiment with your favorite!
2-lbs cinnamon/rolls - not glazed. (Usually about 8 large buns)
6 eggs
2-cups heavy cream
1-cup milk
A dash of salt
1-cup sugar
1-tsp nutmeg
1-tsp vanilla
Grease 9” x 13” pan with about ½ a stick or ¼-cup of butter, not melted!!!!!
There will be small pieces of butter after pan is buttered...this is a good thing!
Very carefully tear cinnamon buns into large pieces and set aside in a bowl; about 2-inch pieces work great.
In a large separate bowl…
Combine eggs, cream, milk, salt, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla.
Whisk until all ingredients are incorporated.
Pour cream mixture over bread and gently toss to combine.
Pour at once into buttered baking pan; make sure bread is evenly distributed.
Bake at 350 degrees until set; approximately 45 minutes.
Serve warm and enjoy!
